Reducing Pedestrian Deaths

New York has the highest number of pedestrian deaths and injuries in the U.S. Pedestrian deaths make up a majority of traffic deaths. T.A. is working to change these grim statistics.

Speeding

Speeding is crime that is rampant in New York City. Our infrastructure has been designed and re-designed for the past fifty years to make this crime easier to commit. T.A. would like to see measures taken to greatly reduce the design speed of NYC streets, better enforce existing speed limits, and reduce speed limits.

Taxi Cabs

The ubiquitous yellow cab, and their deadlier black car relatives in the outer boroughs, don’t have a monopoly on dangerous driving, but they are professional drivers and subject to regulation. The public has a right to expect professional, safe behavior from cab drivers. In turn, drivers deserve a living wage that encourages them to drive safely and gain experience.

Cell Phones and Driving

Cell phones have become immensely popular with car commuters who want to carry on business while speeding down city streets. Studies have shown that both handheld and hands-free cell phones impair a driver's ability to the point that reactions are similar to that of a drunk driver.
