Leafletting and Letter Writing with Straphangers - training session

Here's your chance to volunteer on one of our mass transit-focused campaigns.!

Details below -- please email wiley@transalt.org if you'd like to help out with this. We're hoping that many of you will want to take part in this outreach opportunity. We've partnered with the Environmental Defense Fund and the Straphangers Campaign on this one and it promises to be a fun couple of events.

Help us prevent the biggest transit fare increase and service cuts in NYC history. Transportation Alternatives is launching a major organizing initiative to save straphangers from major fare hikes and service cuts. Teams of T.A. organizers will take to the streets of five neighborhoods on two Saturdays, generating hand-written letters from New Yorkers urging their leaders in Albany to stake swift action.

When:
Training: Tuesday, February 24th, 6:30pm-7:30pm
Events: Saturday, February 28th and March 7th, 11am-4pm

Where:
Brooklyn (Park Slope, Fort Greene, Williamsburg) and Queens (Sunnyside, Jackson Heights)

We need two dozen volunteers to join our organizing teams. Nothing holds more sway with elected officials than a handwritten letter, and we plan to generate more than 1000 in the course of this campaign. Join us for two convivial afternoons.

Start: February 24, 2009 - 6:30pm
End: February 24, 2009 - 7:30pm
Location:
