Share your thoughts on what makes it difficult to walk or bike in your neighborhood, your vision for improvement and brainstorm solutions using the New York City Street Design Manual. This will inform the development of an East Side Action Plan to be launched in Fall 2010.

More about the East Side Streets Coalition:
The East Side Streets Coalition is engaging civic organizations from East Harlem to Chinatown in creating an East Side Action Plan for pedestrian and cyclist safety improvements throughout Manhattan's East Side. Between 1995 and 2005, 188 bicyclists and pedestrians were killed and 19,481 were injured as the result of vehicle crashes on the East Side. The Coalition sees streets as more than just corridors for cars. Instead streets are valuable public spaces that must be well allocated and made safe for people traveling by every means, whether foot, stroller, wheelchair, bike or bus. The overarching goal of the Coalition is to reduce pedestrian and cyclist injuries and fatalities from vehicle crashes by 50% over the next ten years.
