Summer Streets

Due to a forecast of rain for Saturday, August 22nd, all T.A. round-trip rides will be canceled.

Summer Streets is rain or shine.

T.A. will still be tabling at 51st and Park, 24th and Park, and Lafayette and Cleveland

Summer Streets, presented by Mayor Bloomberg and the City of New York is the biggest car-free event in New York City history, and T.A. wants all cyclists, walkers, joggers, dogs, families and New Yorkers to come out and show their love for livable streets. For three consecutive Saturdays in August, the DOT will close streets connecting Central Park to the Brooklyn Bridge, including Park Avenue starting at 72nd. The streets will be car-free for six hours and available for people to sit, walk, ride, relax, dance, play and sing. The possibilities are endless!

Transportation Alternatives is leading round-trip rides from Queens, Inwood, Brooklyn and the Bronx and supplying dozens of volunteers to help New Yorkers get around Summer Streets. We will be on hand at three locations to answer questions and provide information. Check out the Bike Valet at 51st Street, the Pop.Park at 24th Street and Biking Rules at Cleveland Place and Spring Street!

As a T.A. supporter, we are inviting you to join in on the fun. Here's how you can help make this event a great success:

  • Attend Summer Streets and invite your friends. Make the city's biggest block party your block party.
  • Swing by the T.A. tent, become a T.A. member and get a T.A. tote.
