May/June 1997, p.13 Bike Rack Push: April Fools or Real Deal?
The City Department of Transportation's CityRacks program is apparently gearing up to install large numbers of racks in April, May and June. (How large we don't really know, but the Mayor's Management Report says 700 this year.) After endless bureaucratic delays and false starts, cyclists could choose to remain skeptical. A better approach would be to demand that the DOT get it right this time. We are optimistic that racks will soon be sprouting: It's an election year and the CityRacks staff recently doubled to two full-time employees. Send in Rack Requests |
