July/August 1998, p.8 High Bridge Happening
On May 16, the Urban Park Rangers opened the High Bridge aqueduct path to a group touring the Croton Aqueduct. The spectacularly scenic bridge links 173 St. in Manhattan with 170 St. in The Bronx but has been closed for thirty years because of a bottle throwing incident. The City Bicycle Master Plan calls for reopening the bridge, a critical connector between the St. Nicholas Avenue and University Avenue bike lanes in The Bronx. Please send the enclosed postcard to Parks Commissioner Henry Stern. Or write him at: NYC Parks |
