Cross Bay Veterans’ Memorial Bridge

This bridge carries Cross Bay Boulevard from Broad Channel to the Rockaway sand bar. If you’re coming from the Congressman Joseph P. Addabbo Bridge from Howard Beach, be prepared for a let-down: all three lanes of fisherfolk, pedestrians, skaters and cyclists are forced together with those going the other direction into one narrow path on the east side. This is part of the continuing anti-bike and anti-pedestrian legacy of Bob Moses’ Triborough Bridge and Tunnel Authority (now MTA Bridges and Tunnels). So be prepared to be buzzed by all kinds of vehicles, and just missed with fishing poles.
