Traffic Reduction Plan Has No Plan
By John DeSio
Transportation Alternatives has just issued a study chastising Mayor Bloomberg's call to reduce traffic congestion throughout the city, arguing that the city does not even have the right data to make such decisions. The study finds that while the city has sufficient data about traffic in central Manhattan, its numbers are severely lacking for any other community."If Mayor Bloomberg is serious about reducing commute times and reducing pollution, then the city must gather annual information about the transportation challenges that all New Yorkers face--not just about the minority who drive into Manhattan," said Paul S. White, the group's executive director. The full study can be found here.
