The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation have announced the line-up for the eighth annual Movies With A View outdoor summer film series in the Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park section of Brooklyn Bridge Park. The free and ever-popular series will feature films from a wide range of genres and periods, including "Muppets Take Manhattan," "All About Eve," "Being John Malkovich," and "Hair."The series begins July 5 with "The Princess Bride" and runs weekly through August 23, concluding with the sweeping musical "West Side Story.""Movies With A View is the heart of our summer programming," said Marianna Koval, president of the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy. "And it's a real community event which brings folks from all over Brooklyn—and the city—here to the beginnings of Brooklyn Bridge Park to watch great films in a spectacular setting."The Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy launched Movies With A View eight years ago, and works with a volunteer film committee, made up of members of the local community, each year to put together an exciting and eclectic line-up of films. With a venue noted for the quality of its views as well as the quality of its films, the free series attracts thousands of people each summer to the waterfront park."We're thrilled to welcome Movies With A View back to Empire-Fulton Ferry State Park," said Rachel Gordon, regional director of New York State Parks. "Thanks to the hard work of the conservancy and its volunteer film committee, there's no better way to spend a Thursday evening in New York City than right here in the park," she added. As with seasons past, Movies With A View will also screen a short film by an independent filmmaker prior to each evening's feature.
