NYPD Pulling Parking Privileges For Some OfficersThe NYPD is moving forward with plans to reduce the parking privileges granted to employees in the department. According to an NYPD memo obtained by the Daily News, the department is slashing the number of parking permits it distributes to members in response to the mayor's call last month for all city agencies to reduce the number of city-issued permits by 20 percent. Among those who will no longer have parking privileges are officers on sick leave, supervisors with department-issued cars, and auxiliary cops. Commanding officers are being asked to make judgment calls on who should be issued the placards. A spokesman for the watchdog group Transportation Alternatives tells the paper that his group's survey found 77 percent of all permits were being used to park illegally.
