City Briefs: Car-Free Park Urged

Environmental advocates joined elected officials on the steps of City Hall yesterday to rally for a car-free Central Park.The campaign, started by Transportation Alternatives, seeks to keep cars out of the park at least for the summer. Advocates have gathered more than 100,000 signatures.City officials said Central Park is vehicle-free 79% of the time, but promised to look over the proposal with the Police Department.
