By Bill Sanderson
Bike traffic on the bridges spanning the East River is up 35 percent since last year, and 100 percent since four years ago, says Transportation Alternatives, an advocacy group. It's up 84 percent on the Williamsburg Bridge alone since dangerous expansion joint coves were recently removed. And with gasoline at $3 a gallon, advocates predict the city will soon see a record 150,000 cyclists a day.
