Where: Brooklyn Borough Hall.

Tens of thousands of people - many of them children - use Prospect Park every day as an oasis from the noise and danger of the city's streets. But when the park is open to automobile traffic, the park's loop drive becomes a dangerous and hostile place for park users. Families and residents from all over Brooklyn will testify on the danger and menace cars cause in Prospect Park. They will share their fear but will also implore Brooklyn Borough President Howard Golden to support a car-free park.

Lev Fruchter, son of a killed cyclist Rachel Fruchter and Ramona Hamilton, the mother of injured nine year old Lance, will speak briefly on how cars badger, intimidate and ruthlessly kill park users.

Carl Biers, Transportation Alternatives Brooklyn Committee Chair, comments:
"It's inexcusable that you aren't safe from traffic even in Prospect Park. The safest thing to do is reserve the park drives solely for cyclists, joggers, walkers and skaters."
