Friendlier Entrance to Brooklyn Bridge

Read the latest news about this issue.

How about a new bicycle- and pedestrian- friendly entrance to the Manhattan side of the Brooklyn Bridge? The Department of Transportation is considering several different designs, including one called "Alternative 6" that will extend the Bridge's bike/ped path into City Hall Park and vastly improve pedestrian crossings on Center Street Alternative 6 will transform an ugly, treacherous intersection into a grand entranceway and simplify traffic by closing southbound Center Street and making Chambers Street one-way, west bound. It is up to us to make sure that this visionary project escapes destruction at the hands of DOT traffic engineers.
