If the trains and buses stop running, seven million people would be without a way to work. WCBS 880’s Marla Diamond found New Yorkes busily scrambling for alternatives."I think it will be tough...but I think we can handle it," said Paul White of Transportation Alternatives, who notes that 56 percent of subway trips are five miles or less."Those trips are definately bikeable, many are walkable," he says.But what do you do if your employees rely on trucks and cars to get around? Verizon's Mark Marshond says their technicians have been told about the city's carpool restrictions:"We do need to be out and about making repairs, doing installations.
