Staten Island buses may not have been at the top of the list during the Pokey Awards, an annual survey conducted by the NYPIRG Straphangers Campaign and Transportation Alternatives that looks at the slowest bus routes, but they did make up a third of the unreliable list.

Six routes -- the S76, S74, S44, S78 S48 and the S79 -- made the list with rates of unreliability over 20 percent. Buses are considered unreliable when more than one in five arrive significantly off their scheduled intervals or time points.

Borough buses were considered the least "pokey" among the five boroughs and three routes -- the S42, S61 and S60 -- represented the Island's slowest, with average speeds ranging from 11.1 to 13 miles per hour.
