 Stop Losing Sleep Over Car Alarms: Advocates Target NYC’s Quality–of–Life Public Enemy #1Subtitle
Fordham University will host a forum concerning the effectiveness of audible car alarms, urban auto security and the rising support for banning car alarms in New York City on Thursday, March 13, at 7:15 p.m. at Fordham University’s Lincoln Center campus in Manhattan. The panel discussion coincides with the release of a report by Transportation Alternatives with new information about the ineffectiveness of car alarms and the significant costs they impose on New York City residents, businesses and visitors. Panelists include John Jay College sociology Professor Andrew Karmen, Ph.D., who will discuss the automakers’ role; Harold Takooshian, Ph.D., a Fordham psychologist who has conducted behavioral research on car security; Arline Bronzaft, Ph.D., a member of the New York City Mayor’s Task Force on Noise; Steven Brautigam, a Columbia Environmental Law Review author; Aaron Naparstek of Transportation Alternatives who will discuss current legislation; and Aaron Friedman, a consultant who compiled research on auto security in New York City.
