Campaign History

From 135th to 153rd street, Broadway avenue runs through multiple residential neighborhoods, schools and senior centers. The avenue has had six pedestrian fatalities since 2007 with 455 injuries from 2009 to 2013. The People First on Broadway campaign supports the Department of Transportation's 2015 plan for corridor safety improvements for Broadway avenue along with the inclusion of a protected Bike lane into the safety improvement plan. Residents that traverse on Broadway avenue deserve the same safe streets designs that have improved safety for residents in other streets in Upper Manhattan that have seen similar improvements. People First on Broadway will make sure that these important changes are implemented quickly and thoroughly.
