Community Battles Back at Mulry Square
After receiving strongly worded letters from the Manhattan Borough President's Office, Community Board 2 and other groups, the DOT has agreed not to remove a sidewalk extension at Father Mulry Square in Manhattan. This sidewalk extension was the linchpin of the Mulry Square Traffic-Calming Plan, which was crafted by the internationally-known Project for Public Spaces and approved by the local community. T.A. highlighted the issue with our December "Human Bollard" demonstration, in which we outlined the proposed extension with people at the intersection of 7th Ave., Greenwich Ave. and 11th Street. The DOT should go the next step and implement the original community-approved plan in its entirety.
