Kill van Kull and Arthur Kill Bridges

These three bridges connect Staten Island with the coast of New Jersey. These three bridges pose distinct difficulties for the intrepid rollerblader or cyclist.

Bayonne Bridge

This bridge connects Staten Island with the city of Bayonne, NJ across the Arthur Kill. The walkway has finally been repaired, but still has stairs at the Bayonne end.

Bayonne entrance: West 3rd Street west of Hudson Boulevard
Staten Island entrance: Morningstar Road at Hooker Place

Goethals Bridge (I-278)

no bikes allowed

The Goethals bike/ped path is closed. Read on for more details.

"The sidewalk at the Goethals Bridge is closed to all pedestrians and motorists. The sidewalk will be replaced as part of the Goethals Bridge Roadway Rehabilitation Project to be completed in late 2006."

Outerbridge Crossing

No bike or pedestrian path. Ped/bike access was removed in 1963 to accommodate modern and wider vehicles in the absence of shoulder.
