Bike Month 2009 comes to a grand finale this weekend with the 5th Annual Tour de Brooklyn, one of New York's largest free cycling events. The Tour de Brooklyn is a leisurely, family-friendly ride on 21 miles of Brooklyn streets. This year's ride tours Coney Island, Bensonhurst, Sunset Park, Rego Park, Flatbush and Brighton Beach.

For the first time ever, Greenwood Cemetery will open its gates to cyclists as riders take in one of Brooklyn's most majestic open spaces. This year, online registration filled up in less than 24 hours. A limited number of free registrations will be available on-site on ride day. "I can't believe how fast the tour filled up this year! It really is the best way to celebrate how far biking has come in Brooklyn," says Paul Steely White, Executive Director of Transportation Alternatives.

The Tour de Brooklyn is produced by Transportation Alternatives, and sponsored by Brooklyn Brewery, Pierless Fish Corp., Slope Sports, Bailey Works Bags, Deno's Wonder Wheel, Community Independence Foundation and Habana Outpost.

Excellent photo opportunities of thousands of cyclists, and interview opportunities with the T.A. staff, Brooklyn cyclists and the Borough President
