Every community wants safe streets, and the bills passed by the City Council today will help communities identify dangerous intersections and lobby for added traffic enforcement. For years, Transportation Alternatives has advocated for the reforms outlined in these bills, most recently in its 2009 report, Executive Order: A Mayoral Strategy for Traffic Safety.

"With better information, communities can collaborate with government agencies to fix problems like rampant speeding, red-light running and other traffic problems," said Paul Steely White, executive director of Transportation Alternatives. "The ability for people to compare their daily experience to up-to-date traffic safety data will open up this process."
