Join us on May 9 in Albany as we demand more life-saving speed safety cameras in New York City.
Since 2001, more than 5,000 people have been killed in traffic in NYC, and motor vehicles remain a leading cause of child injury deaths. To address this epidemic, speed safety cameras have been effective - speeding violations are down 63% and injuries to people walking are down 23% at the average camera location.
However, NYS law limits NYC to operate cameras at just 140 school zones, even though our city has more than 2,000 schools, leaving 93% of students without this life-saving technology.
Join us on May 9 as we demand more life-saving safety cameras for our city!
